1.Look after precious Ogasawara for posterity.

Learn various things about Ogasawara's nature and culture including its bountiful nature that is blessed with precious animal and plant life, and the unique culture that is fostered in the midst of this nature, and look after Ogasawara to ensure that its nature and culture are preserved for posterity.

2.Never discard garbage. Take it all away with you.

At Ogasawara we strive to keep the island beautiful on a day-to-day basis. Also, scrapped vehicles are taken off the island before being disposed of. Follow the example of the efforts made by the islanders, and cooperate in the campaign to take garbage away with you.

3.Keep to the trails.

If you walk in places other than the trails, not only are you likely to lose your way, but also you may damage the plant life. Be sure that you do not stray from the trails. If you are not familiar with the paths, walk together with someone who is familiar with the geography, such as a local guide.

4.Do not pick plants or capture animals, bring animals or plants to the island, or remove animals or plants from the island.

The large variety of wild animal and plant life, including that in the sea, is a precious part of the ecological system that is unique to Ogasawara. However, some of this life is delicate and easily harmed, and many species were rendered extinct in the past, and also many species are in danger of extinction at present. In order to preserve Ogasawara's precious ecological system, do not bring animals or plants to the island or remove them from the island, or pick wild plants or capture wild animals.

5.Enjoy watching while taking care not to harm animal or plant life.

Nature watching such whale watching or bird watching is popular at Ogasawara. To ensure that visitors can always enjoy such activities, take care not to harm plant or animal life.

6.Do not destroy the unique terrain of coral reefs, and so on.

The coral reefs, and so on, are important historical witnesses that talk about Ogasawara's nature.

7.Do not write graffiti to commemorate your visit to the island,for example.

One of the charming points of Ogasawara is its uncluttered scenery which has few billboards, and is in harmony with nature. Never write graffiti to commemorate your visit to the island because it will mar the scenic beauty.

8.Camping on any part of the island is prohibited,so please do not camp.

Camping is prohibited throughout Ogasawara. For protection of your life and bodily safety, and also to preserve the beautiful nature of Ogasawara and the quiet lives of the villagers, please stay in the accommodation facilities. Do not camp under any circumstances.

9.As far as possible use your own energy to move around.

When moving around the island, avoid using automobiles as far as possible, and instead walk or use a bicycle and enjoy Ogasawara at a slow pace.

10.Use water carefully, and keep toilets and other public facilitiesclean.

At Ogasawara, water is a very precious commodity. Use water carefully and do not waste it. Also, note that contamination or damage to toilets or other public facilities occurs because of a little carelessness. Each and every visitor must take care to ensure that the next person can use these facilities without unpleasantness.
